Negar Dehghan

Visual Designer & Researcher

Negar Dehghan is an Iranian visual designer and design researcher whose cross-disciplinary background spans architecture, landscape architecture, and visual communication. With an MFA in Graphic Design from Penn State University, Negar approaches design through the lens of systems thinking—crafting meaningful visual experiences that prioritize clarity, accessibility, and social impact.

Her award-winning thesis project Glucomood—a digital support system for adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes—has received national recognition from Graphis, AIGA, and UCDA for its innovative intersection of mental health, UX design, and healthcare. Negar’s research interests lie at the confluence of design, sustainability, and human-computer interaction (HCI), and her academic work has been published and presented at leading venues including HCI International and the International Conference on Sustainable Development.

At Penn State, Negar collaborated on a range of projects including interactive exhibitions, campus wayfinding systems, and sustainability communications. Her work is rooted in visual storytelling, research methodology, and inclusive design, consistently engaging users as co-creators in the design process.

She currently serves as a visual designer at The M Group Architects in Reston, Virginia, where she leads branding, marketing, and environmental graphics efforts. Negar’s design ethos centers on crafting solutions that are not only visually compelling but also deeply attuned to the lived experiences of users and the systems they navigate.
