Bomrani is an innovative Iranian band formed in 2008, known for blending traditional Iranian folk music with Western country-blues, rock, and jazz influences. Founded by Behzad Omrani (lead singer and rhythm guitarist), the band initially emerged from Tehran’s underground music scene, quickly gaining a reputation for their unique sound and energetic performances. Over time, they expanded to include core members Mani Mozaka (harmonica and trumpet), Jahanyar Ghorbani (electric guitar), Arash Omrani (keyboards), and Kiarash Omrani (bass guitar), creating a rich, diverse musical palette that set them apart in the Iranian and international music scenes.
Bomrani’s work has been critically acclaimed both in Iran and abroad, with major publications such as Reuters, ABC News, and RFI praising their genre-defying music. Their albums, including Common Denominator (2015) and Probably No Heroics Involved (2020), have established them as one of Iran’s most successful independent bands. The group has performed at prestigious venues like Milad Tower and Azadi Tower, and they have been featured in prominent festivals, including the Fajr Music Festival and international events such as the Termeh Iranian Cultural Festival in Munich. Their involvement in the film Bandar Band, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), further showcases their global appeal.
With upcoming performances in renowned U.S. venues, including Symphony Space in New York City, Bomrani continues to build its international presence. Its ability to fuse cultural and musical traditions from East and West has made it a standout act, and its contributions to Iranian and world music have earned it widespread recognition.
