Maedeh Ojaghloo

Multimedia Artist, Educator & Researcher

Maedeh Ojaghloo is a Tehran-born multimedia artist whose practice intertwines activism, archival research, and immersive installation. Based in New York, her work draws from the sociopolitical fabric of contemporary Iran and her own lived experience as an immigrant. Working across animation, photography, and motion design, Maedeh creates poetic yet pointed narratives that confront state violence, gender inequality, and systems of oppression—often giving voice to those historically silenced.

She holds an MFA in Photography and Related Media from the State University of New York at New Paltz and an MA in Animation from Maziyar Higher Education Institute in Iran. Her project Beyond Shattered Honor, a striking reflection on honor-based violence and women’s resistance, was exhibited at the Dorsky Museum and is part of a growing body of work that foregrounds art as a vehicle for justice and collective memory.

Maedeh’s exhibitions span institutions such as the Yale School of Art, the Center for Photography at Woodstock, and the UNISON Art Center. Her project 3 Months and 10 Days was accepted into the Cannes Festival Market. In addition to her artistic practice, she teaches 2D Design at Dutchess Community College and has served as a visiting instructor at SUNY New Paltz.

Her work has been featured in Canvas Rebel Magazine and Hudson Valley One, and she is an active member of the Society for Photographic Education and the Center for Photography at Woodstock.
